Pakistan to participate in short training camp before Ireland tour

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is leaving no stone unturned in their quest to adequately prepare their players ahead of next month's T20 World Cup 2024. Captain Babar Azam and his team-mates are set to join a three-day training camp at the Gaddafi Stadium, beginning on Saturday, May 4.

The Pakistan players are required to assemble at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore on Friday evening. This three-day training camp will focus on honing both the skills and fitness levels of the players ahead of their three-match T20I tour of Ireland. Pakistan are set to play three T20Is in Dublin on May 10, 12, and 14 against Ireland. After this assignment, the Men in Green will head to England to face the Three Lions in a four-match T20I series, starting on May 22. The Asian giants are slated to depart for Ireland on the morning of May 7th.

After the training program, there will be an open media session, where players will get the opportunity to offer insights into their preparations and expectations for the impending tours. The highly-anticipated announcement of Pakistan's squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 is set for May 22 during the series versus England. Pakistan will look to bounce back after managing only three wins out of 10 T20Is so far against New Zealand in 2024. They recently hosted the Kiwis for a five-match T20I series. The second-string New Zealand side managed to finish the series at a 2-2 stalemate after the first game was washed out.

The ninth edition of the T20 World Cup is set to get underway on June 2. However, Pakistan, who are placed in Group A alongside co-hosts USA, Canada, Ireland, and arch-rivals India, begin their campaign in the marquee event on June 6. Pakistan will face the USA in their opening clash of the tournament. Meanwhile, the major India versus Pakistan clash is going to be held on June 9 in New York.
