Sunrisers Hyderabad registered a brilliant victory against Rajasthan Royals in game 50 of the IPL (Indian Premier League) 2024. Both sides locked horns at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, and batting first, SRH youngster Nitish Kumar Reddy was the star of the show.

Staying unbeaten on 76 off 42 deliveries, Reddy helped SRH post a total of 201 runs in the first innings. His performance in a pressure situation attracted praise from many experts all over the world.

Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer was one of the many. The 46-year-old heaped praise on Reddy for his brilliant knock and even took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to brand the youngster as the future all-rounder for the Indian team.

“Nitish Reddy has been a standout performer. For a 21-year-old to bat like that - eight sixes, three fours, and in a tough situation. He's done it against Punjab (Kings) as well, I remember when they had lost their top-order,” Jaffer said via ESPNcricinfo Timeout show.

“From whatever we've seen so far Nitish Reddy has all the makings of being next AR for India. Good signs for Indian cricket,” Jaffer posted later on X.

SRH move up to fourth in IPL standings

Speaking of the game, after posting a total of 201 runs in the first innings, SRH looked to be heading towards a loss as the brilliant knocks of Riyan Parag and Yashasvi Jaiswal made for an exceptional partnership between both batters. However, due to some brilliant bowling, orchestrated by skipper Pat Cummins, SRH were able to limit Rajasthan.

With just two balls needed off the last delivery, Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s delivery dismissed Rovman Powell as SRH won the last. The victory saw SRH move up to fourth place in the standings. The Pat Cummins-led side is well in the race for the playoffs, with 12 points to their name in 10 matches. On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals maintained their place atop the standings, registering their second loss of the season.
