10 Interesting facts about Kagiso Rabada: Kagiso Rabada bowled a fantastic final over in the first ODI against India at Kanpur. He defended 11 runs against an experienced campaigner like MS Dhoni, got the Indian skipper’s wicket and proved why he is ranked amongst the most promising fast bowlers in world cricket. Here’s a look at some of the interesting facts about this young speedster:
1. Was a part of the South Africa’s Under-19 team which won the age-group World Cup in Dubai in February 2014.
2. His spell of 6 for 25 against Australia’s Under-19 team in the U-19 World Cup in Dubai earned him the player of the match award; he bowled consistently over 140kph and troubled the batsmen with his sheer pace and accuracy.
3. He finished with 14 wickets in the tournament and was his team’s highest wicket-taker; finishing 2nd highest in the overall list for the tournament.
4. After just three months from the completion of the U-19 WC he was awarded a franchise contract at the Lions; one of South Africa’s strongest domestic teams.
5. His consistency and the raw pace was rewarded by the selectors and he made his T20I debut against Australia in Adelaide in November 2014.

9. Rabada is also the fourth youngest bowler to take a hat-trick in ODIs, and the third South Africa bowler to achieve this after Charl Langeveldt and JP Duminy.
10. His spell of 6/16 in the same match is also the best by a South African bowler in ODIs and by any debutant; before this Fidel Edwards’ 6 for 22 against Zimbabwe in 2003 was the best by an ODI debutant.
