England outplayed Sri Lanka in both the Test series and the 5-match ODI series, which the hosts won 3-0. Wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler feels that the depth in the English batting line-up gives the team the license to gamble a bit earlier.
“Knowing that Adil is at number 11, a fantastic batsman as well, it gives you that licence to push your gamble button and try to kick on a bit earlier,” said Buttler.
He pointed out that, this doesn’t mean that he is passing on the responsibility, but it tells only about the confidence in the batting line-up. “It doesn’t mean you’re trying to pass your responsibility, but it’s good to know that there are guys behind you who can pick up the baton as well.”
England normally has the habit of losing matches when they have already won the series, but they were ruthless in the 5th and final ODI in Cardiff, as they finish it off with a convincing win.

“It was a very convincing performance,” he said. “There was no let-up at all really.”
Morgan recollected his memories of the first ODI, in which they pulled off an unrealistic tie after Liam Plunkett smashed Nuwan Pradeep over the long-off fence for a maximum, with England needing 7 runs off the last ball.
“It was brilliant to come out of that game without being wounded,” said Morgan.
“I thought that was a great effort.”
Buttler’s quickfire 45-ball innings on Saturday was a key to England’s success and Morgan said, “He’s been outstanding…He’s fronted up every time he’s been asked.”
