Former Pakistani captain and Afghanistan coach Inzamam-ul-Haq was left red-faced, after an incident involving Afghan wicketkeeper Mohd Shahzad after the latter came back into the dugout after playing a match winning knock.

Mohd Shahzad, who opened the batting, gave Afghanistan a brilliant start by making 61 runs in 39 balls, including a very awkward looking lap shot. Shahzad was the main contributor for the Afghan team as they beat Scotland by 14 runs and open their account of the qualifying round of the World T20 2016. His innings made lots of news on social media, but there was another incident involving him, that has gone viral on the internet.

The incident happened when Shahzad was coming into the dugout after getting dismissed. Inzamam, who was sitting in the dugout, walked towards Shahzad with his hand up, with intent of giving him a high-five and congratulate the batsman. But Shahzad just walked right past him without acknowledging Inzamam’s effort to congratulate him.

Why Shahzad didn’t return his coach’s gesture, is better known to him. May be tiredness, difference of height between the two people could make returning the high-five a pretty difficult task in itself. Bowler Shapoor Zadran tried warning the batsman about what he did, but when he saw Inzamam walking towards the boundary ropes, as if nothing had happened, Zadran let the whole thing go.

It should be said that Inzamam tried to be extra cool, after being rebuffed in his attempt to embrace the tradition of high-fiving the batsman, by walking towards the ropes and acting as he was engrossed in the game. But we all felt for the gentle giant and the comments on social media sites were full of Inzi’s days of running his partners out.
