Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has of late become the newest groupie for Indian batting sensation Virat Kohli. While Kohli has a massive fan-following all over the world, this one would perhaps rank among the very top in that list. Virat Kohli has exhibited magnificent maturity while batting in the calendar year. He carried his form from the Asia Cup, making it big on the massive stage of the World T20 2016.
Shah Rukh made a guest appearance on Star Sports. He was flanked by pacers from yesteryear Zaheer Khan and Shoaib Akhtar. On the show, the 50-year old actor was full of praise for Virat Kohli, stating that he is a very ‘well-behaved’ kid.
“Ever since he led India in the Under-19 World Cup, I have found him to be a very well behaved kid. He knows how to pay respect,” said Shah Rukh.
The aforementioned comment comes as somewhat of a surprise as Kohli is generally perceived as either aggressive or someone who loses his temper. Shah Rukh, the owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders also stated that his son got into cricket only after watching Virat Kohli perform. The Bollywood superstar also mentioned that Misbah ul Haq’s dismissal in the final of the World T20 in 2007 at Johannesburg was his most cherished cricketing moment.
“My son got attracted to cricket only after that. My heart was in my mouth when Misbah (ul Haq) played that scoop and Sreesanth held that towering catch,” recollected Shah Rukh.
Finally, Shah Rukh Khan addressed the most important situation of the evening. With Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar on his left, Shah Rukh stated that he bought Akhtar in the auction following the advice of former India skipper Sourav Ganguly.
“We were so scared of Shoaib’s pace that Dada (Sourav Ganguly) said we must buy him so that our batsmen didn’t have to face him. I promptly agreed.” Shah Rukh said.
