10 Best memes from the India v New Zealand 2nd T20I
New Zealand won the game but Indians stole the show on the memes front.
Team India and New Zealand were engaged in a crunch battle in Rajkot. With the trophy on the line, the visitors had to win this one to keep the series alive and they did just that. Kane Williamson won yet another toss and this time decided to bat first. Understanding what scoreboard pressure can do to a batting line-up their intentions were to put up as many runs on the board as possible and then hope their bowlers manage to restrict Virat Kohli & Co. under it on a batting paradise at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium.
Colin Munro took the Indian bowlers to the cleaners and so did Martin Guptill. Though the latter’s stay in the middle was brief he scored a 41-ball 45 during which Guptill smashed three sixes and as many times got the ball to the ropes. Munro who was given three lives by the Indian fielders made the most of it and was severe on the debutant Mohammed Siraj. The spinners weren’t going to have an easy day in the office either and they were plundered around the park as well.
Munro got to his hundred; the second in T20Is this year and by the time their quota of overs ended Black Caps had 196 runs to their name. Given how flat a wicket it was, many predicted it was an under par total. But when Trent Boult & Co. took charge with the ball it was a different game. The left-arm pacer got rid of both the Indian openers and with that opened the game up for his team.
Apart from Virat Kohli who ended up with 65 from 42 balls no other Indian batsman proved to be a threat to the Kiwis. While MS Dhoni did score 49 runs they didn’t come as fast as the team wanted and as a result, the Indian team lost the match by 40 runs. With this win, New Zealand levelled the three-match series 1-1 and now the action moves to Tiruvananthpuram where they will play the series decider on November 7.
