10 cricketers from current Indian team are against Anil Kumble’s extension as coach: Reports
As per further inside news, only one player has come out in support of Kumble.
The tenure of the current team India coach Anil Kumble ends after the Champions Trophy. Virender Sehwag, Tom Moody and a few others have thrown their hats into the ring for becoming the new coach, while Kumble himself has reapplied for it.
As per the latest developments in the selection of team India’s new head coach, it has been learnt that close to 10 of the present team India cricketers do not want the BCCI to reselect Anil Kumble for the position that he already holds at the present.
DNA India has reported that as per ‘highly-placed’ sources in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the players have claimed that Kumble is “too bossy”. They have blamed Kumble for “imposing strict standard of inhuman approach while tackling fatigue and injury”. BCCI will be conducting interviews over the next two days.
BCCI’s acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary and General Manager, MV Sridhar have interacted with the players. Sourav Ganguly, who is a key member of the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), also had a word with the team last week. “It has been conveyed to CAC that BCCI or Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators will have no role whatsoever in selection the appropriate person for coach’s job,” added the official.
A player underwent surgery because of Kumble’s stubbornness?
As per further inside news, only one player has come out in support of Kumble but the rest have maintained silence. One of the players even said Kumble’s stubborn attitude forced him to go for surgery.
“The difference between 2011 World Cup-winning coach Gary Kirsten and Kumble is that while the former was a friend, who used to keep conversations confidential, Kumble has a habit of giving his own example of strict discipline and then taking the conversation to others,” this is what the players have told the BCCI, as per DNA India.
