10 Cricketers who will be benefitted if BCCI adds two more IPL teams in 2022

BCCI has already issued a statement in December 2020, that there will be ten teams in IPL 2022. IPL, the world’s toughest cricket league is successful because of its continuous innovations in the game. The IPL Governing Council did innovation in 2011 by adding two teams to the tournament, Kochi Tuskers Kerela and Pune Warriors India. But it didn’t work out so well because of financial issues. But the BCCI has announced that IPL 2022 will be a 10-team tournament. BCCI has made this decision to make the league more competitive and interesting. These two teams can bag in some great international players and even talented youngsters who are not getting a chance to perform according to their potential. So here are 10 cricketers who will be benefitted from the addition of two new teams in the IPL: 1. Chris Lynn Chris Lynn. (Photo: IANS) The explosive Australian opener was in Kolkata Knight Riders for seven years. He played some top knocks for the Knights. The opening pair of Sunil Narine and Lynn was a threat for every opponent of Kolkata. But shockingly they released Lynn ahead of the IPL 2020 auction. He was bought by Mumbai Indians but didn’t get many opportunities for the franchise. Mumbai’s batting line-up was all perfect and set so there was no spot for the Aussie. But if the new teams want an opener, Chris Lynn can be a perfect choice for them. Though he hasn’t played much in the last two seasons his heroics in the Big Bash League can’t get neglected. 2. Kamlesh Nagarkoti Kamlesh Nagarkoti. (Photo Source: Instagram) Kamlesh Nagarkoti is another rising star, who was a member of Shubman Gill and Prithvi Shaw’s U-19 World Cup team of 2018. His bowling with a fast pace and perfect lengths made everyone amazed. He was going to make his IPL debut in 2018 with Kolkata Knight Riders but missed it due to an injury. He didn’t play the 2019 season too. Finally, he debuted in 2020 IPL in the UAE. But for most of the matches, he gets benched for the team. The young talent hasn’t played many matches for the franchise. He is good at bowling Yorkers with good pace. He can be a good find for the newly-formed teams in the IPL 2022. 3. He has played for eight franchises till now in the IPL and hasn’t proven himself to be a consistent and fitting player in any team. But he is an explosive opener. If he stays on the crease for some time, he can hit any bowler out of the park. He is also experienced as a skipper as he is captaining Australia in the recent few years. If a team gets a good top-order batsman and a good captain at the same time, it will be a very good pick. Aaron Finch will be definitely benefitted from the addition of two new teams in the tournament. 4. Shreyas Gopal Shreyas Gopal. (Photo Source: Twitter) The Karnataka all-rounder, Shreyas Gopal plays for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. He is known for his hat-trick against RCB in 2019. As an all-rounder, he is a complete package. He takes wickets for his team and can hit the ball long on his days. He proved to be a very valuable player for RR in 2019 when he took 20 wickets in 14 matches and even had some cameos with the bat. But he didn’t get many chances in 2021. There are high chances of him getting picked by a new team in the mega auction. As the two new teams are trying to build up a team, an all-rounder like Shreyas Gopal will be a good buy. He will even get more opportunities in a new franchise. In short, the addition of new teams is a good buy for any team. 5. Joe Root Joe Root. In the T20s he used to change his gears, unlike Test cricket. His match-winning knock against West Indies in the 2016 T20 World Cup is often considered as one of his best T20 innings. Root is among those players who haven’t played for a single franchise in the IPL. Of course, he is a great Test player but he is a good one in T20s too. As new teams are getting added in 2022, there can be some good bidding for him. As a top-order batsman, he can be very useful. So two new teams will create great opportunities for this English star player. 6. Kartik Tyagi Kartik Tyagi. Many people and his teammate, Ben Stokes said that Tyagi’s run-up is similar to Brett Lee and he delivers the ball like Ishant Sharma. The young bowler was taken as a net bowler for India’s tour of Australia. He has impressed everyone with his pace. He showed his class in the Under 19 World Cup 2020, where he was the second-highest wicket-taker of the tournament. If you are building a team, you need a bowler who can do wonders with the new ball. Kartik showed it in the U-19 World Cup and was even lauded by many for his performance in the IPL. But he is getting benched for most important the time as RR prefers to go with Chetan Sakariya and Dhawal Kulkarni. So it is a great opportunity for Tyagi as he can get picked by the new franchise. 7. Mitchell Santner Mitchell Santner. (Photo Source: Twitter) For New Zealand, Mitchell Santner has been the go-to man as he is an efficient spinner and a handy lower-order batter. But he hasn’t been able to find his place in the CSK playing 11. He played only six matches for Chennai despite being in the squad for two years. He is a mainstream player for the Black Caps and his performances are impressive for his national side. He can give breakthroughs with the ball and can do hard-hitting too. Chennai already has their lower order sorted. But Santner will be a great option as an overseas all-rounder for any team. So Santner will be happy to find a team that needs him. 8. Narayan Jagadeesan Narayan Jagadeesan. (Photo Source: Twitter) The Tamil Nadu batsman was the highest run-scorer in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2020-21. He currently plays for Chennai Super Kings. He is a top-order batsman and plays spin very well. He played a huge role to make Tamil Nadu champions in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. As a middle-order batsman, he can strike the ball and can even make good partnerships. As Chennai’s team is completely sorted, it’s difficult for Jagadeesan to find his place there. Whereas getting a young talented batsman is profitable for any franchise. Jagadeesan might get more opportunities with a 10-team IPL. 9. Mushfiqur Rahim Mushfiqur Rahim. He is also among the leading run-scorers for the Tigers at the highest level The Bogra-born is termed as a limited formats expert. He hits the ball very well. However, even after so much success for his national side, franchises have not shown interest in him. He wants to play the IPL and is a very good pick as a wicketkeeper-batsman. There are chances that new franchises might bid for him, which is a piece of good news for Rahim. 10. Jalaj Saxena Jalaj Saxena. (Photo Source: Instagram) The Indore All-rounder debuted in the 2007 Ranji Trophy. He has a lot of experience in the domestic circuit and is a good player. But he never got many opportunities. He has played only one match in the IPL. Jalaj was a part of Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Delhi Capitals earlier too but made his debut in 2021 with Punjab Kings. He had performed very well in the domestic circuit but never got rewards for it. Jalaj’s story is disappointing but he might be happy with the addition of two new teams. The chances of getting opportunities increases for him. He can be a great option to be in a playing 11.
