7. Ajinkya Rahane (ODIs)
Ajinkya Rahane is the vice-captain of the Indian Test side and is an important member of the Indian batting lineup, which also includes behemoths like Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara. The right-hander has played 73 Test matches for India and has plundered 4583 runs at an average of 41.29. Rahane has also scored 12 hundreds and 23 fifties in the whites.
But then, Rahane’s limited-overs career is almost over, and there are almost no chances for him to walk into the Indian limited-overs side. This is particularly true in the ODI format of the game. The diminutive batsman last played an ODI for India in February 2018, and with the Indian batting department brimming with talent, Rahane might never play another ODI for India.
While Rahane is also not a part of the Indian T20I side, there is still a negligible chance that he might make a return to the Indian T20I side, if he experiences an excellent IPL season. Rahane is already 32 years old and has played at the international level for over a decade.
It would be best for him to announce his retirement from the ODI format of the game while hoping that a good IPL season might once again open the door for him in T20I cricket. Rahane still has a lot to offer to the Indian side in Test match cricket.
