For more than two decades, Chris Gayle has tormented bowling attacks in every part of the globe. He is a legend of West Indies cricket and is the only batsman apart from Brian Lara to score over 10000 runs in ODI cricket for the West Indian side.

The batting colossus is the highest run-getter for the West Indies in ODIs and has amassed 10480 runs at an average of 37.70 in 301 ODI matches. Gayle has also played 61 T20Is for his country and has scored 1656 runs at a strike rate in excess of 140.

Even though Gayle still has the chance to represent his side in limited-overs cricket, his Test journey is done, and he might not get another chance at this age to once again wield the willow in the whites for his country. Gayle has accumulated incredible numbers in Test cricket too. The batting legend has plundered 7215 runs in Tests and at an average of 42.19.

The last time Gayle played a Test match for the West Indies was in the year 2014. Gayle can formally announce his retirement from Test cricket and focus entirely on limited-overs cricket so that he can offer his best to his country in whatever cricket is left in him.
