7. Adam Gilchrist 72 balls vs. Sri Lanka Barbados, 2007
Adam Gilchrist who had a quite World Cup 2007, decided to explode in the final of the tournament against Sri Lanka. He said that wearing a half cut gold ball in his right glove gave him the much-needed extra grip.
He smoked a century in just 72 balls and made 149 runs off 101 balls in the final taking Australia to 281 runs. Sri Lanka demoralised by the assault on them, they were also hampered by rain and bad light. With no reserve day to continue the final, play was extended well into darkness to finish the match.
Australia won by 53 runs via Duckworth Lewis method and they lifted their 3rd straight World Cup.
