One of the most famous fast bowlers of the world, Shoaib Akhtar is known for his raw pace and the way he decimated the opposition batsmen with his classy bowling skills. He was the cornerstone of the Pakistani bowling attack during his playing days and Akhtar made history by bowling a delivery at the speed of 161.3 km/hr against England.

While a lot of cricket fans may argue that Sri Lanka’s U-19 fast bowler, Pathirana bowled a ball at the speed of 175 km/hr in the recently concluded U-19 World Cup, it is noteworthy that the officials did not clarify whether it was a glitch or not.

Hence, Akhtar still stands as the number one player in terms of bowling the fastest delivery. He breached the 100 miles/hr landmark against England during the 2003 World Cup.
