<p>Emotions are an integral part of cricket, just the way it is a part of every sport. <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/cricket-players/sachin-tendulkar/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Sachin Tendulkar</strong></a> felt the emotions when he picked up the player of the tournament award in 2003 as the trophy he really wanted to lift remained far away from him. To see him eventually get there in 2011, well that triggered a different set of emotions.</p>

The two-time World Cup winner’s car rolled down the road and toppled over an embankment near Townsville. The stalwart died aged 46 and the cricketing world went into a mourning state with tributes flowing from all corners of the globe.</p>

The southpaw was traveling to his hometown in Uttarakhand when his car collided with the divider before catching fire. Pant managed to get out of the burning vehicle with the help of locals and had sustained gruesome injuries which kept him out of action for almost two years.</p>

In the match that went to a reserve day due to rain, India were to chase just 240 runs to reach the finals. After the top-order collapse and Ravindra Jadeja’s 77 off 59, India needed 32 runs in 13 balls with <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/cricket-players/ms-dhoni" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dhoni</a> as the last recognised batter at the crease.</p>
<p>As things stand out, he was dismissed on the third ball of the 49th over, courtesy, of a direct throw from Martin Guptill as Indian fans wept from the stadium and back home with Dhoni walking in despair exuding emotions he had never shown before on the field.&nbsp;</p>

The fans cued up in huge numbers, including the Prime Minister and all prominent celebrities in the country were present in Dhaka to see Pakistan lock horns with the hosts in the 2012 Asia Cup finals.</p>
<p>Bangladesh were chasing 237 runs in the second innings and half-centuries from <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/cricket-players/shakib-al-hasan" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Shakib Al Hasan</a> and Tamim Iqbal seemed enough to take them home. But unfortunately, the middle order fell apart.</p>

<p>South Africa and World Cup semifinals is perhaps one of the most horrible love stories in cricket and nothing backs my point better than the 2015 semifinal. They had a big total on board batting first, they had some chances to pick big wickets and finish the game early, but it all went in vain as the equation came down to five needed in two balls.</p>
<p>Grant Elliot hit a six off Dale Steyn to send New Zealand into the finals, leaving South Africans all across the globe inconsolable. As <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/cricket-players/ab-de-villiers" target="_blank" rel="noopener">AB de Villiers</a> and many others from that game said, later on, it was the most heartbreaking moment of their careers.</p>

Phillip Hughes, a 26-year-old promising youngster who was trying to replace <a href="https://www.crictracker.com/icc-world-cup-2019-michael-clarke-names-the-player-who-can-win-india-the-title/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><strong>Michael Clarke</strong></a> in the Australian squad through the Sheffield Shield game, was batting on 63 when a deathly bouncer hit his neck and two days later, it took his life.</p>
<p>The cricketing world was never left so heartbroken as that. So many games were called off right after his passing and the Test series between India and Australia too was postponed for a few days.</p>
<p>But the moment which literally left everyone weeping was Aaron Finch and Greg Hughes (Phillip’s father) carrying his coffin for one final time. They both couldn’t control their emotions and cried their heart out, so did the entire world watching it.</p>
