Advancements in technology has been a blessing to live sports. The quick replays, the usage of reviews, and of course, the media boom has created a whole new dimension in the world of sports. In cricket, the introduction of DRS, zing bails, stump mic, and stump camera makes it easier for match officials to scrutinize any event in the game.

In football, we have seen the players covering their mouths while talking on the field. They do it at times when sledging an opponent to avoid the cameras from picking their words. Cricketers haven’t been seen doing the same. There are more than 20 cameras in an international game tracking every move of the player.

Over the years, the stump mic has caught players making funny remarks on the field. Albeit the high intensity on the ground, cricketers do spare a moment for having fun and speak out some of the most hilarious things.

Here are 10 hilarious comments which were caught on the stump mic:

1. Tim Paine asking Rishabh Pant to babysit

The Indian team created history last year as they beat the Aussies in the Test series 2-1 in their own backyard. The series was played with utmost intensity and competitiveness. But apart from the vigorous contest between bat and ball, the banter between Rishabh Pant and Tim Paine was also the talking point throughout the series.

In the third Test at the MCG, India was in the commanding position with a lead of over 300 runs. At the fall of the fifth wicket, Rishabh Pant walked in to bat. Both the wicket-keepers have had a constant go at each other in the series. Here as well, the Aussie skipper reminded Pant that he was excluded from the limited-overs side as MS Dhoni returned and asked him if he could use his spare time to babysit.

Paine told Pant, “Tell you what big MS is back in the one-day squad. Should get this bloke down to Hurricanes.. They need a batter.” The Aussie skipper asked Pant, “Do you babysit? I can take my wife to the movies while you watch the kids.

Few days later, on the new year, both the teams were invited to the Australian Prime Minister’s house where Pant was photographed with Tim Paine’s wife, Bonnie Paine and their kid in his arms. Bonnie uploaded the photo on Instagram and captioned it “Best babysitter” which went viral on social media in no time.
