Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed is one of the most trolled cricketers on social media. From his funny moments in the press conference regarding his weak English skills to his yawn in the World Cup match against India- he has been trolled heavily, though all in jest. But in the series against South Africa, in frustration of the game slipping away, Sarfaraz went too far when he made racial comments about South-African all-rounder Andile Phehlukwayo.

The incident happened in Durban in the second ODI of Pakistan’s tour to South Africa last year. South Africa were in a comfortable position while chasing a target of 204. During Phehlukwayo’s innings, Sarfaraz was caught on the stump mic saying, “Abey kale, teri ammi aaj kahaan baitheen hain? Kya parwa ke aaya hai aaj?” (which translates to “Hey black guy, where is your mother sitting? What (prayer) have you got her to say today?”)

Obviously, this didn’t go down well, either with the fans nor the ICC. Not only he was massively criticized on social platforms but also was slapped with a four-match suspension by the ICC. Sarfaraz apologized for his statements publically and personally to the Phehlukwayo. The right-hander has been stripped of the captaincy from all three formats now and has been dropped from the team owing to his poor form.
