Sri Lanka came into the third T20I game with the purpose of registering a win and avoiding the second possible whitewash after the one they suffered against Pakistan barely a month ago, but the way they batted, it seemed as their boarding passes were already in their pockets and were in a hurry to go back home.

The Indian captain Rohit Sharma, for the first time in the series, won the toss and keeping the dew factors in mind decided to field first. While it was not a normal flat Wankhede wicket and was a little two-paced, it was still not unplayable, but there were some really rash shots played by the Sri Lankan top order which reduced them to 18 for 3 in the 4th over of the game.

Sadeera Samarawickrama and Asela Gunaratne stitched a brief partnership of 38 runs for the 4th wicket, but they couldn’t quite lay the platform for the middle order. India kept chipping away with the wickets through the middle overs as Kuldeep Yadav bowled a tight spell and was well complimented by Washington Sundar and Hardik Pandya. Dasun Shanaka hit a few lusty blows at the end and guided the visitors to 135 which was although not a par score but was definitely respectable and gave the Sri Lankan bowlers an opportunity to have a crack at India.

They made a mess of what was believed to be an easy chase. The Sri Lankan bowlers, to their credit, bowled according to the wicket as they relied on cutters and back of the length of deliveries most of the time. The ball was holding onto the surface and the batsmen were struggling to find their timing.

The game got a little tricky at the end, as India needed 15 off the last 2 overs with the last recognized pair of MS Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik at the crease, but they thankfully finished the job for India as the hosts managed to complete the whitewash. Here are a few memes we created on the game:
