1. Mitchell Starc - 24.75 crores (2024)
Not long ago, just when it seemed like Australian Captain Pat Cummins would remain the biggest drawer and rule the IPL 2024 auction price chart, after he broke the 20-crore bidding barrier for the first time in the history of the IPL auctions, his teammate and fiery left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc became the second overseas player to break the barrier. But as the IPL brand has always brought some unexpected and mind-boggling biddings, the same happened in Starc's case.
Mitchell Starc shattered all the bidding record books to become the highest-paid overseas player in IPL history. The gun-quick bowler triggered probably the most insane bidding war the franchises have ever gotten into. As a result, after much back and forth, Starc was bought for a whopping 24.75 crores by KKR. Notably, the Aussie got back to the mega event after an eight-year-long break. The 33-year-old last featured in the IPL for RCB.
Speaking of Mitchell Starc's T20 journey, the Sydney-born has featured in 121 T20 games, whereby he has picked up 170 wickets so far with a decent average of 19.54. When it comes to his career-best bowling figures in the T20 format, he has 2 four-wicket hauls with the best figures being 4/15. During his long stint in the format, the Aussie has an economy of 7.45.
