It was a turner at Sydney, but West Indies would have not been perturbed by the prospect of facing Allan Border, who had taken 16 wickets in his 100 Tests till then. Australia were playing two specialist spinners in Peter Taylor and debutant Trevor Hohns while West Indies had brought in Roger Harper for Patrick Patterson. Border went on to get Australia’s best figures by a spinner at the SCG; his 7 for 46 – he took four more in the second innings that set up a consolation win for the hosts.
