Yes, there was an incident in IPL 2013 when the Wankhede crowd had booed Virat Kohli which had left the RCB captain fuming. It all happened when Ambati Rayudu got run-out in a bizarre manner. He seemed to have grounded his bat inside the crease when he ended up colliding with the RCB bowler Vinay Kumar. At the same time, Rayudu’s bat went back up in the air and Kohli aimed a direct hit at the stumps.

The batsman was adjudged out and from then on, the angry Wankhede crowd jeered at Kohli several times while also booing him and calling him ‘cheat’. It continued even after the match during the presentation ceremony and he wasn’t pleased even a bit. Kohli reminded the fans that he plays for India at the international level as well and cautioned them against creating hatred amongst the players.

“As far as the crowd is concerned, it has happened to a few players in the past as well. I don’t know why they get so worked up during IPL. IPL is not the end of the world. And they forget that the players they are booing for also play for their country. It is only creating hatred among the players. When I come back and play for India, they are going to cheer for me. It doesn’t work that way. You come to Bangalore and you see how Indian players are appreciated,” he had said in the press conference.
