3. Stunning Spin: Katich is known for his unorthodox batting, but his bowling spell against Zimbabwe in 2003, the second Test of his career was indeed a stunning one. Misfit for ODIs: Katich played his last one-dayer against West Indies, scoring just 25 off 66 balls with 1 boundary and a six at a meager strike-rate of 38 in DLF cup final of 2006 in Kuala Lampur. Kat never justified his place in ODIs because of his low strike rate. His career strike rate in ODIs is just around 68.
6. Clarke Vs Katich Controversy: Australian team was in elated mood following their victory against South Africa at Sydney test in 2008. Michael Clarke wanted the national anthem to be sung early so that players could depart, but Hussey and Katich advised him to be patient and wait. Clarke kept complaining about it and this incited Katich further. He immediately clutched Pup’s collar. Disgruntled vice captain left the Aussie dressing room without any wait. The controversy remained alive in the media for weeks and months together.
7. Selection controversy: Michael Clarke was appointed the new skipper of Australian team in 2010. By the mid 2011, injured Katich was axed from the squad to give more opportunities to youngsters.
