By getting fetched for INR 3.2 Crores in IPL 2019, the SRH franchise seemed to be the right place for Vijay Shankar to exhibit his overall skills. Since the orange army often has a knack for bringing the best of players who are in the work-in-progress mode, Vijay Shankar seemed to be the player who could strongly helm SRH’s middle-order batting.

However, in reality the cricketer has drastically underperformed especially in the 2021 season. He is averaging only 11.60 with the bat. While the franchise had also expected some firepower from Shankar, his strike rate has disappointingly sunk to 111.53. Even his bowling performances have turned out to be very gloomy as only 3 wickets have been scalped at an economy of around 9.

Hence, a horrendous time in the first leg has certainly brought a shortfall in his stocks that eventually might have a sharp effect on his 2022 IPL contract.
