Timothy David Paine was born on 8th December 1984, Hobart, Tasmania. Paine has four siblings, and his uncle, Robert Shaw, was an AFL player and coach.

He has represented Australia, Australia A, Hobart Hurricanes, Pune Warriors and Tasmania.

3. Nickname:

His nickname is “kid” because of his baby-face looks.

Paine became the youngest-ever contracted player in Australia when he received a rookie contract with Tasmania at 16 years of age.

5. Leader from the grass-root level:

Paine captained Tasmania at Under–15 and Under–17 level, along with being a member of its Under–19 team at the age of just fifteen.

6. Domestic delight:

Tim Paine has played 84 first-class games, scoring 3804 runs at an average of 29.48. He has 1 century and 24 half-centuries to his credit. He scored his maiden double century (215) against Western Australia in the year 2006.

Paine made his ODI debut for Australia as a replacement for regular wicketkeeper Brad Haddin in 2009 against England, and in the series’ sixth match, he scored his maiden international century. He has played 26 ODI’s so far, scoring 737 runs along with five fifties and one century.

The wicketkeeper-batsman has 5 outings in the shortest format, scoring 22 runs at a strike rate of 122.22.

9. Baggy Green:

Paine made his Test debut against Pakistan at the Lord’s in the year 2010. He represented the “Baggy Green” on 4 occasions. He notched up 287 runs at an average of 35.87, along with a couple of fifties.

Paine has 55 international catches to his credit while registering 5 stumping to his name.

11. Top job:

Paine was named vice-captain of Australia’s Twenty20 team. However, he played his last T20I game for Australia on 14 January 2011.

In the 2011 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, Tim Paine was sold for $270,000 to Sahara Pune Warriors.
