England’s greatest wicket-taker, James Anderson produced his best Ashes figures of 6/47 to bowl Australia out for 136 after Michael Clarke chose to bat at Edgbaston. On a dry surface with a covering of grass and under slightly overcast conditions, Anderson removed David Warner very early but it was his second spell that really deranged the Australians. Returning in the 20th over, he took 4 wickets for 7 runs showcasing high-class swing bowling. After his wicket-less outing at Lord’s this spell put England back ahead 2-1 after a thumping defeat in the second Test.
