The English Test skipper Alastair Cook was hailed as the apparent heir of Sachin Tendulkar in Test cricket with age and form on his side. But, he endured a horrific ODI stint as a skipper and opener with the English side and was dropped just before the World Cup 2015. Cook’s conservative approach didn’t do him any favors in the demanding shorter versions of the game. In Tests, he has made runs in excess of 9,000 at an average of 46 but in ODIs he averages in mid 30’s with a substandard strike rate of 77.
