In what was a shocking retirement move, a 19-year-old hung his boots from professional cricket. Representing Leicestershire in county cricket, the announcement came as a surprise. The teenager had just taken his first steps into a competitive cricketing career. Will Fazakerley who dons the all-rounder role had made his first-class debut in July, 2017. The 19-year-old also represented Guernsey as he signed his first pro deal last year. This was before he made his County Championship debut against Sussex.
Leicestershire bid farewell to Will on Twitter

Right time to pursue opportunities outside cricket
Fazakerley offered his regards to everyone who had been influential in giving him an opportunity to play professional cricket. He looked forward to pursuing another career as he chose to walk away from the sport. “I’d like to thank everybody for giving me the opportunity to play professional cricket but I have decided that now is the right time to pursue opportunities outside of cricket,” Will conveyed this message to the club’s official website.
Fully understand Will’s decision, wish him all the best
Wasim Khan, who is the chief executive of Leicestershire gave his full support to Will. Speaking on behalf of the club, he told that they respected Will’s decision to pursue a career other than cricket. He further wished him the best for the future. “We fully understand Will’s decision to look for a different direction in his life outside of professional cricket and we wish him all the very best in the future.” he was quoted as saying by The Cricketer.
