1988 RT-PCR COVID tests have been carried out so far across all IPL contingents: BCCI
Also, in the latest turn of events, CSK star and recently retired batsman Suresh Raina has returned India to be with his family.
After several rounds of planning and keeping various parameters as the basis, the venue of the much-awaited Dream11 Indian Premier League was shifted to UAE. Stringent rules and safety measures are already in place for so long that players are getting quite accustomed to it. After testing negative twice, the players were allowed to leave India for the Gulf country. Upon coming here, they were being tested again and sent in the mandatory quarantine of 7 days.
The players were supposed to hit the grounds for their outdoor training and then move into a specially designed bio-safety bubble. Amid the ongoing smooth process, troubles started pouring in for the Chennai Super Kings when 10-members of their contingent got tested COVID-19 positive, and it created a huge stir in the team.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has already laid stringent health and safety protocols to conduct the fancy league successfully. Accordingly, upon landing in the UAE, players have followed the required testing and mandatory isolation.
A total of 1,988 RT-PCR COVID tests have been carried out between August 22- August 28 across all the IPL contingents present in UAE. These numbers include players, support staff, team management, BCCI staff, IPL operational team, hotel, and ground transport staff.
As per BCCI, 13 personnel have tested positive so far in which 2 are players. All the affected people, as well as their close contacts, are asymptomatic for now, and they have been isolated for the mandatory period of time. They are currently stable and under the care of the IPL medical team.
