Prior to Gilly’s arrival in international Cricket, a wicket keeper was considered as a player who would keep wickets and bat occasionally. Gilchrist revolutionized this concept and turned out to be one of the best pinch-hitting batsmen of the time. The opening duo framed with him and Hayden swaggered the opposition in no time. Also, he was simply magnetic as a keeper and perhaps possessed the safest pair of hands behind the stumps.
