21 Statistical facts about Sir Don Bradman: When it comes to cricket, there is an individual who has set the benchmark of measuring brilliance. Sir Donald George Bradman was without a shadow of doubt, one of the greatest cricketers to have walked the planet. His batting redefined the game of Cricket forever. It is said that stats do not need any supporting statements and if there is one number that symbolized Bradman’s cricketing career, it is 99.94, his average in Test cricket.
On his 107th birth anniversary we look at 21 Statistical facts about Sir Don Bradman:
1 – Don’s nearest contemporary in batting genius, England’s Walter Hammond, made only 253 more runs in 33 more Test matches and another 60 innings at an average, 41 less than Bradman’s.
2 – Don Bradman scored 28,067 runs in First-class cricket at an average of 95.15, with a top score of 452 not out.
3 – The record for the highest partnership for any wicket by Australia against all countries was established by Don Bradman and Bill Ponsford at The Oval in 1934 (451 for the second wicket).
4 – Against India, Don Bradman averaged 178.75 in 6 innings.
5 – In his Test career, Don Bradman scored 26% of the team’s total runs.
6 – Bradman’s average in Test matches reached 50 with his 3rd innings, and stayed above 50 for the rest of his career.
7 – Don hit just six sixes in his Test career, five versus England and one against India.

15 – Bradman’s fastest first class century took only 70 minutes. This was in his innings of 369 for South Australia against Tasmania, during the 1935-36 season.

17 – He is the only Australian player to have scored more than 100 centuries in first class cricket. Bradman achieved this feat in only 295 innings. The next quickest was English Denis Compton who needed 552 innings.
18 – During his first class career, Bradman scored 200 or more in a single day on 27 occasions.
19 – In his 80 Test innings (10 not out), Bradman scored 6996 runs at an average of 99.94.
20 – The next best average after Don’s amazing 99.44 is 60.97 by Graeme Pollock of South Africa.
21 – Bradman’s record of 974 runs in a series is the most by any player in Test history and it has been unequalled till today. He achieved the feat in the 1930 series versus England.
