The oldest player in first-class cricket was the Governor of Bombay, Raja Maharaj Singh (India) (1878-1959), aged 72 years 192days, when he batted, scoring 4, on the opening day of the match played on 25-27 November 1950 at Bombay for his XI v Commonwealth XI. The oldest Englishman was Benjamin Aislabie (1774-1842) for MCC (of whom he was the secretary) v Cambridge University at Lord’s on 1 and 2 Jul 1841, when he was aged 67 years 169 days.
