The captaincy style of Rohit Sharma is quite different and thus he could bring in a few changes.

He might not have led India in many games but that doesn’t take anything away from the brilliant skipper Rohit Sharma is. The Indian opener is a shrewd tactician and one of the best brains around in the Indian team. Under his leadership, Team India won the Nidahas Trophy 2018 as well as the Asia Cup 2018. Moreover, he is the most successful captain in a high-pressure tournament like the IPL.

Rohit Sharma has led the Mumbai Indians to four title triumphs thus far. For quite some time now, there have been talks about Rohit replacing Virat Kohli as the captain of the Indian team. While that doesn’t seem possible in all the three formats, Rohit should at least be given the responsibilities of leading the T20I team. Also, if given the leadership role, Rohit could also take a few important decisions about the team combination.

Here are three players who could be axed if Rohit Sharma becomes the T20I captain:

1. Umesh Yadav

Umesh Yadav is one of the fastest bowlers around in the Indian cricket circles. Not only does he bowl quick but also swings the ball at that pace. Hence, he is often difficult for the batsmen to pick when he is operating with the new ball. While he could be a decent enough bowler in the Test and ODI formats, T20I format is just not for him.

Yadav absolutely struggles in the shortest format of the game and ends up leaking a lot of runs. He rarely hits the right areas and often gifts the batsmen great lengths so that they can comfortably get underneath the ball and sent it into orbits. Rohit Sharma is someone who prefers having an attacking bowling line-up and likes having bowlers who can bowl at any stage of the game. Thus, he might not want to have Umesh in his team who is usually backed a great deal by Virat Kohli.
