3 Indian players who are picked for Asia Cup 2022 but might not be selected for T20 WC
Securing a place in the Indian team has become tougher since the emergence of some high-quality youngsters from the IPL.
3. Shreyas Iyer
Unlike the other two players on the list, Shreyas Iyer has been around the Indian white-ball setup for a while now and his place in the squad would’ve been guaranteed if it were a 50-over tournament.
The 27-year-old has been in tremendous form in the longer white-ball format of the game and registered two half-centuries and a 44 in the three-match ODI series against West Indies. Unfortunately, he hasn’t been able to replicate the same form in the T20Is.
Iyer showcased his batting prowess in the final T20I of the recently concluded T20I series by registering his seventh half-century in the format, earning him a place on the Standbys list. But the road ahead is even tougher for the elegant batter as the likes of Deepak Hooda and Suryakumar Yadav are ahead of him in the pecking order for the T20 WC Down Under.
