Who doesn’t remember this last over when arch-rivals, India and Pakistan were clashing for the maiden T20 World Cup. This is when the scenario changed, the world witnessed a distinctive angel of gentlemen’s game and started showering love for this format like nothing else. Afterwards, world cricket, India, in particular, saw one more huge development in the shortest format.
That was the introduction of the Indian Premier League (IPL). This T20 franchise-based league revolutionized the game within no time. 11 years on and now it has become the biggest cricketing festival in the entire world. 1. Prithvi Shaw
Prithvi is one of the promising youngsters who is seen as the future star of Indian cricket. The Mumbai-born cricketer has been hitting the headlines consistently for his special batting performances. Last year, he piloted India U-19 team to World Cup victory, with not only his batting brilliance but by his superb captaincy as well.
The 19-year-old recently debuted for India in the three-match Test series against Windies. He displayed his flamboyance in the very first match, scoring a fiery ton to become youngest Indian to make a century on debut. Shaw plays for Delhi Capitals in IPL and owns some formidable numbers there also. Owing to his success rate and leadership skills, he could for sure captain team India in the future.
2. Shreyas Iyer
Another special name in the domestic cricket, Shreyas Iyer, surely is a strong candidate who can lead Indian team in coming days. The right-handed batsman is already captaining Mumbai in domestic arena while he was named as Delhi Capitals skipper for the upcoming IPL season as well.
The 21-year-old has been the backbone of Delhi franchise since a couple of years. He makes sure to score on a consistent basis and get his team on top. During last season, the Mumbai-based cricketer was one of the highest run-getters for Capitals, making 411 runs in the 11 matches. He also captained the side for some matches.
3. Ishan Kishan
Kishan having made his mark in IPL with his batting and skillful wicket-keeeping, has been in fine touch for his domestic team, Jharkhand, both with this performances as player as well as captain. He is known for his fearless approach and going after bowlers quite calmly.
Kishan is one of the strongest parts of Mumbai Indians squad in IPL as well. He has played some fine knocks for them under pressure and would be looking to make most of the upcoming edition as well. Meanwhile, as he has shared good success while leading Jharkhand and done well enough in the IPL, so India might be seeing a future skipper in him.
