2. Yuvraj getting paid one crore and a Porsche by BCCI
The fact that India won the championship was an icing on the cake after Yuvraj’s belligerence in Durban. The Men in Blue won the inaugural edition after rebating Pakistan by five runs in the final at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) duly rewarded the southpaw for the batting spectacle. Ever member of the Indian team was given INR 80 lakhs each. It was given to them by the then BCCI president Sharad Pawar. Along with the amount, Yuvraj got an additional one crore along with a Porsche sports car from Lalit Modi, the then BCCI vice-president.
Pawar also lauded Yuvraj for the incredible feat and had words of praises for the other team members. Even after 13 years, the game remains to be a memorable one for the players and fans.
