3 Players SRH should target in IPL 2023 Auction

The former captain of Bangladesh cricket team, Shakib Al Hasan is considered by many to be among the finest all-rounders the game has ever seen. One of the select few from Bangladesh to play in the IPL (Mustafizur Rahman is the other name that comes to mind), Shakib has already had a long and storied IPL career. That Shakib was not picked up by any of the franchises at the IPL 2022 auction was partly the result of his partial unavailability due to Bangladesh tour of South Africa.

Having made his IPL debut in 2011, Shakib has played 71 matches in IPL, most for a player from Bangladesh. Debuting for KKR in 2011, he served them till 2017, being part of two title-winning seasons. He has picked up 63 wickets in IPL at a miserly economy of 7.43. His batting hasn’t created as much of an impression, but he has played crucial knocks down the order for his side. His little but important cameo in the 2012 IPL final against CSK comes to mind, which helped KKR win their first-ever IPL title.

Having played two seasons previously for SRH (2018 and 2019), Shakib is another one in this list with past SRH connections. A team dominated by specialist players, Sunrisers would like to add options in both departments by picking more all-rounders. Also if IPL 2023 is played in franchises’ respective cities, Shakib could be a handful on Rajiv Gandhi stadium in Hyderabad.
