At a tender age, Quinton de Kock has established himself as the country’s most swashbuckling opening batsman of his era and the most reliable gloveman. The 26-year old is one of the most high-spirited individuals on the field and a level-headed player.

The hosts could benefit highly by making him the skipper at present which also gives them the chance to name him as the one to lead the side in the future. With Du Plessis nearing his twilight years, it is likely that De Kock, who was amongst the runs in the second Test, could captain the Proteas. He has also got the best position in the field to gauge the situation and this is the best opportunity for South Africa to look at him as a possible future captain.
