3) Krishnappa Gowtham
In recent years the Karnataka state team is booming with skilled cricketers and Krishnappa Gowtham is one of them. At 30, the all-rounder is a late bloomer who has generated some impressive numbers in the last couple of years. He has been a premier spinner for his domestic side. Gowtham has also evolved into a capable lower-order batsman with his power game.
A year ago he was hogging the limelight when he was bowling quality spells in the 2018 Vijay Hazare trophy. He continued his growth in the 2018 IPL where he scalped 11 wickets for the Rajasthan team. In the present scenario, he is the only right-arm off-spinner who has been making the right noises. India has focused too much on their wrist spinners but they should also nurture talent like Gowtham before the 7th edition of the T20 championship.
He recently took a fifer against Windies A which is the further proof that he is ready for the international challenges. Particularly Gowtham can be an enterprising option in Australia, host of 2020 World Cup. His height will allow him to extract the extra bounce on those surfaces. His power hitting will give the team the required firepower in the end overs. Unlike other spinners, he is swift and agile in the field which makes him a genuine match-winner.
These players have all the attributes to become successful T20 stars so the Indian team management should consider including them in the national set-up.
