2. Shreyas Iyer:
The next big name that will be retained for sure by the Delhi Capitals side is their former captain Shreyas Iyer. His captaincy turned out to be the turning point of the Delhi capital’s campaign. He is a right-handed top-order batter who can anchor the innings.
Delhi Daredevils signed him in 2015 and scored 439 runs in 14 matches and earned the emerging player award in his debut season. He was retained in 2018 and given the captaincy role. He led the team to playoffs in 2019 and to finals in 2020.
In 2021 due to a shoulder injury, he was unavailable for the first phase of the IPL, and Rishabh Pant was replaced as the captain. The team has always trusted their youngsters as mentioned earlier and this 26-year-old player is a future prospect to the Indian cricket and hence the team will certainly retain him.
