There are multiple reasons why certain players keep going back to the auction pool. At times, it is their performance. At times, it is their price tag and the extra cushion that the franchises want ahead of the auctions. It is also a combination of both at times.
Hence, there are multiple players who have gone into the auction pool on many occasions. Thus, as a result, they’ve ended up playing for multiple teams as well. However, some players have been bought back by the same team in the next auction for a lesser price.

<h3>4. Amit Mishra (6 times)</h3>

It is surprising to see a player who has been as consistent as&nbsp;Amit Mishra shift so many teams. He is the second-highest wicket-taker (174 wickets) in the history of the IPL. No other player has as many hat-tricks (three – 2008, 2011 and 2013) as Mishra in the IPL.
However, the leg-spinner constantly switched teams. In fact, Mishra has played only for three IPL teams but he’s constantly found himself in the auctions. In 2008, he signed up for Delhi Daredevils and played for three years. It was then in 2011, Mishra was bought by Deccan Chargers and in 2013 and 2014, when they were terminated, he turned out to play for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
But in 2015, the leggie was back to the Delhi franchise. He played for three seasons before he was back in the auction pool. But in 2018, he was again bought by Delhi Capitals and remained with them until 2021. Thereafter, injuries marred his progress as a cricketer and remained away from any action for a long time.
However, in 2023, when the 'Impact rule' was introduced in the IPL, franchise Lucknow Super Giants realized his wealth of experience could immensely benefit them ahead and hence in the IPL 2024 season, Lucknow roped him into their side.

<h3>3. Yuvraj Singh (6 Times)</h3>

Yuvraj Singh was one of the biggest match-winners to have played for India. However, for some reason, he was never a hit in the IPL. He has a great record for India and has had a big impact but it hasn’t been the same in the IPL.
The Punjab southpaw has played for as many as six teams in the history of the IPL but has never found a home or a permanent side. In fact, one of the reasons could well be his performance. Yuvraj has never made more than 400 runs in an IPL season. Hence, he kept switching teams as he was constantly thrown into the auction pool.
In 2008, he was with the then Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings aka PBKS). The all-rounder played there for three seasons before Pune Warriors India (PWI) bought him in the 2011 season. In 2014, he made headlines as Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) broke the bank to obtain his services (INR 14 crores). In 2015, Delhi did the same and bought him at a higher price (INR 16 crores).
However, his price dropped in 2016 when he was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). His inconsistent and poor performances meant that those stocks were at an all-time low in 2018 and 2019. In fact, he attracted just one bidder in the 2019 auctions. As a result, after going unsold in initial rounds, Yuvraj was finally bought by Mumbai Indians for his base price of INR one crore.

<h3>2. Dinesh Karthik (7 Times)</h3>

Perhaps, not many players have been in and out of the Indian team as much as Dinesh Karthik. He made his debut before MS Dhoni but lost his place to the latter and kept waiting as an injury replacement or played as a pure batsman. However, in the IPL, he always was rated highly.
Right from 2008, Karthik attracted a lot of attention. He wasn’t all that successful in the first season but had decent returns in the next two. In 2011, the Tamil Nadu stumper was bought by KXIP for a stunning amount of $900,000. However, before the 2012 season, during the transfer period, he was shifted to Mumbai Indians (MI) where he had a couple of very good years.
In 2014, Delhi bought him for INR 10.5 crores before RCB broke the bank and spent INR 12.5 crores in 2015. Moving on, in 2017, he was a part of Gujarat Lions which made it five different teams. After spending a couple of years with GL, he was scalped by KKR who then made him the skipper, where he led the side to playoffs round in 2018.
However, in 2022, he yet again returned to his former IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), where he played as a finisher for the team. Since then he remained a vital cog of the popular franchise and retired from professional cricket in 2024, after playing his last season in the form of IPL 2024.

It was in 2010 that Jaydev Unadkat gained the limelight. As a 19-year-old, he made his Test debut for India in 2010, as he replaced Zaheer Khan. However, it was in that year itself Unadkat made his IPL debut. He played for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for his first three years in IPL cricket.
In 2010, he featured in just three games but played seven games in 2011. However, that went down to just one game in 2012. Unadkat picked up 10 wickets in these 11 games across three seasons. However, in 2013, he was bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for a big sum of $525,000. The left-arm pacer picked up 13 wickets in as many games but mega auctions in 2014 meant he had to go back to the auction pool.
In 2014, he was picked by Delhi Daredevils where he played nine games that year. Next year, he was picked by DD yet again but played just one game in 2015. Hence, Saurashtra left-armer was back in the auctions in 2016 where he was picked by KKR once again. However, opportunities deserted him and hence, in 2017, he became Rising Pune Supergiant’s (RPS) premier Indian pacer.
But with the return of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), Pune were eliminated from the IPL. Thus, in 2018, he was bought by RR. In 2019, he was released only to be bought by back RR at a slightly lower price.
Moving on, after getting released by RR, in 2022, MI bought him at the auction, which continued his team-shifting journey ahead. However, due to a star-studded team, he got limited opportunities with the Blue-Gold franchise. Consequently, in 2023, he found himself being bid by IPL teams yet again in the auction. This time, after leaving MI, he was bought by the new-born franchise Lucknow Super Giants.
