5 Australian players to watch out for in the Bangladesh Tests: Cometh the month of October, we are all set for a festive month in cricket with lot of big series lined-up for us. After 2006, it will be the first time when Australia will be touring Bangladesh for Test matches. They would play 2 Tests against the Bangla Tigers on the tour which will commence from October 9. It will also be the first series for the Australian team in the whites after they lost the Ashes series by 3-2. Australia is going on the tour with a relatively young side as many players including Michael Clarke, Shane Watson, Brad Haddin, Chris Rogers and Ryan Harris recently hung up their boots while David Warner is missing out on the tour due to injury. Today, let’s have a look at 5 Australian players to watch out for in the Bangladesh Tests: 1. Steve Smith: Steve Smith. (© Getty Images) The Aussie skipper Steve Smith is seemingly the biggest threat for the Bangladesh side. Since 2014, he has been in dazzling form and has emerged as the face of Australian batting. He will look to carry on his ruthless touch with the bat in this series as well. Smith had pummeled 508 runs in 5 Tests against England at an magnificent average of 56.44. He had ended up as the leading run-scorer in the Ashes 2015. Unlike many other Aussie batters, Smith is very comfortable against spin and uses his feet to perfection against spinners which is likely to pay rich dividends for him in this series as well. Even in India and UAE, he had shown that he can dominate the spinners right from the word go. 2. Mitchell Starc: Mitchell Starc. This year, Starc has taken 75 wickets in 27 matches across all the formats of the game and is the leading wicket-taker of the year. If we talk about Tests only, then he has 33 scalps to his credit in 8 matches. The 25 years old pacer is the strike-bowler of his side and possess the ability to pick up wickets in any given condition or time. In Bangladeshi conditions, with his lethal pace he can make the ball talk. He is masterly apt at executing deadly in-swinging Yorkers and has a very effective bouncer in his armor as well with which he can make the life of the Bangladesh batters a living hell even in their own backyard. 3. Nathan Lyon: Nathan Lyon. Few months ago, Lyon became the most successful Australian off-spinner in the whites and now with time is looking to be getting into his own. Nathan is a classical off-spinner who doesn’t fear giving flight to the ball. With time and experience, Lyon has sharpen up his skills and in the last two years has got his share of rewards as well. In Bangladesh, Lyon will get to bowl on low and slow tracks which will suit him as well. He will be a big threat for the Bangladesh batsmen. 4. Adam Voges: Adam Voges. (© Getty Images) The Aussie middle-order batsman, Adam Voges who is about to turn 36 in some days will be the vice-captain of the Aussie side on this tour. But as they say with greater power comes greater responsibility. On this tour a lot will depend upon him to provide solidity and calmness to the otherwise young Australian batting line-up. Voges is a gritty batsman and possess a very sound technique. He might not have had the best of Ashes series recently but yet his exploits against West Indies on low and slow tracks gives us a fair idea of what damage he can pull off against Bangladesh as well. He averaged a whopping 167 against West Indies. 5. Mitchell Marsh: Mitchell Marsh. Marsh would look to carry on his belligerent ODI form in the Test arena as well though there are stark differences between conditions of England and Bangladesh. But yet the very fact that Marsh had a decent outing against Pakistan in UAE will give him a lot of confidence coming into this tour. Now after retirement of Watson, he has the perfect opportunity to cement his place in the side as the seaming all-rounder. Mitchell is very destructive against spin and would love to dominate the Bangla spinners throughout the series.
