Virat Kohli was one of those aggressive lads who was still learning his way around. Playing for one of the richest sides in the league, Kohli was in red-hot form during the 2011 season. However, this time he was not to be the one to win the Orange Cap and had to be second on the highest run-getters list.

He was outwitted by one of his own teammates, Chris Gayle. The West Indian giant was on top of his game that season and did not miss the opportunity to score big. Virat was stuck at 557 runs as Gayle outscored him by 51 runs. He had scored his runs at a healthy average of 46, hitting at a strike rate of 121.
