The Gayle storm had arrived during the 2013 season and was not ready to leave the tournament. However, it was not the only storm that hit this cash-rich tournament. Michael Hussey during the fag end of his career was blossoming like a youngster during the 2013 season.

While Gayle scored a whopping 708, Hussey who represented CSK got better of him. Playing a game more Hussey was able to get past Gayle and grab that Orange Cap. However, the West Indian entertained everyone thoroughly as no one will ever forget his innings of 175 not out against Pune Warriors India. He scored at an average of 51 with a massive strike rate of 156, which was more than any of the top five batters that year.
