5 Battles to watch out for in All-Star T20 League: When cricket fans came to know about the All-Star T20 matches to be organized in USA, it is a dream come true for all the fans who want to watch those legends who made the childhood and teenage years of millions of cricket fans memorable. And tomorrow is the day it is realized, when Sachin’s Blasters face against Warne’s Warriors in New York tomorrow. And it’s not just Sachin Tendulkar, or Shane Warne to play in the team. We have the Nawab of Najafgarh, Sehwag; the charismatic left-hander Brain Lara; the Rawalpindi Express Shoaib Akhtar; Sultan of Swing Wasim Akram; Jonty Rhodes, Jacques Kallis, Ricky Ponting, Glen McGrath and Phew! The list is literally never ending! It is highly improbable that we have ever witnessed such a spectacle of legendary players. So the immediate reaction when we hear these players is about the battles we have witnessed in the past between the players in these teams; the good old memories of yesteryears when the battle between the bat and ball were more than just a battle between gentlemen. And arguably, he is the second greatest batsman to have emerged from Australia, and one of the greatest of his generation. But one thing everyone missed out is the “Punter” himself against his team-mate, Glenn McGrath. McGrath is someone who talks, and also lets the ball talk. And not to mention him being the highest wicket taker in Tests amongst fast bowlers. So will the Punter pull away the Pigeon? Or will McGrath have the last laugh. An exciting battle awaits us! 2. Possibly the second youngest retiree (the time spent in retirement) amongst the players, Kumar Sangakkara is still at a top-notch form. His records this year in the English county cricket is enough proof for that statement. Against a batsman who’s cover drive is etched in out memory, the bowler all the fans want him to face his none other than Murali himself. If looks could kill, Murali would have killed every batsman with his glare after delivery stride. But even more lethal is his off breaks, which turns like a spinning top. Kumar Sangakkara is no muck against spinners, whereas Murali has a fair share of experience against Left handers (Lara might be glad that Murali is his team-mate). A battle every Sri Lankan cricket fan would not want to miss out! 3. Virender Sehwag vs Saqlain Mushtaq Virender Sehwag vs Saqlain Mushtaq. (© Getty Images) Every India vs Pakistan battle is memorable to the fans of either side. Be it Miandad’s last ball six against Chetan Sharma, or Venkatesh Prasad’s battle with Amir Sohail. Another moment which is memorable, especially for the Indian fans, is Sehwag’s epic six coming down the track off Saqlain Mushtaq to get to his triple century, the first by an Indian. And what’s more, it was Mushtaq’s last Test match. The master of doosra might be itching to have a go at the Nawab of Najafgarh to make amends for that forgettable final. A battle which every Indo-Pakistan cricket fan would love to watch. 4. Brian Lara vs Wasim Akram (source) The battle can be summed up as Elegance vs Magic. The Prince of Port Spain had once rated the Sultan of Swing as the toughest bowler he had ever faced, and quite rightly so. Wasim Akram, possibly the greatest left-armer of all time, has faced Lara more than just a few occasions, and had their share of battles. But the real fascinating thing about their battle was the way they played cricket. It was poetry in motion. This battle of legendary left armers is another battle the fans just cannot avoid to miss out, especially those who value the beauty of cricket. 5. Sachin Tendulkar vs Shane Warne Sachin Tendulkar vs Shane Warne. Shane Warne, arguably the greatest spinner of all time, had one of the greatest rivalries in cricket history against Sachin Tendulkar. While the wizard has won over Sachin a few occasions, Sachin has dominated the bowler most of the times they have met. Warne even joked about getting nightmares to bowl to Sachin. But nevertheless, it was a true battle of giants when these two faced off, and thanks to their initiative, we will come to witness the legendary battle again. The most awaited battle hands down.
