4. Ravindra Jadeja
Ravindra Jadeja was termed as the ‘Rockstar’ by Shane Warne. He was a part of India’s Under 19 World Cup-winning side in 2008 and played a significant role in helping the Rajasthan Royals (RR) win the maiden season of the IPL. Having played two seasons for RR, Jadeja was banned for a year for violating the player’s guidelines as he approached other teams for higher pay.
However, in 2011, the Saurashtra all-rounder returned and played for the Kochi Tusker Kerala. He had a great season before the franchise was terminated from the IPL. Hence, he was back in the auction pool in 2012. CSK went after him like never before and even won the tie-breaking bid (against Deccan Chargers). In fact, in 2012, CSK spent their entire purse on Jadeja.
And the left-handed all-rounder has repaid the faith. Having played 102 games for CSK, the left-arm spinner has picked up 81 wickets and is third on the list of leading wicket-takers for CSK. With the bat, he has scored 865 runs and has had a decent impact. Moreover, Jadeja is remarkable in the field and his value just goes up purely because of his ability in the field. Hence, he remains one of the best purchases by CSK.
