2. 7/48 & 6/133, v Australia, Chennai, 2004
Rain on the final morning ruined all chances of this Test ending in what looked a memorable Indian victory against Pakistan but it takes nothing away from Kumble’s fantastic spell. Australia, who won the first Test in Bangalore, were bowled out for 235 on day one from the strength of 189/2, with Kumble snaring 7/48. In the second, he added six more to help set India a target of 229 with a day to spare. Though the match ended in a draw he was deservedly given the Man of the Match award.
