Stuart Broad is one-half of one of the greatest fast bowling pairs of the modern era. Broad, along with James Anderson has spearheaded the English fast bowling attack for the past decade and has taken more than 1000 wickets between them. But, whenever there is a discussion around the greatest bowlers of the past 25 years, one of the criticisms that have often been levied against both Anderson and Broad is they did not have the same impact, as they had with the swinging Dukes ball.

Anderson, however, has re-invented himself during the second half of his career and has been England’s lone spearhead even in unhelpful conditions. But, the same cannot be said about Stuart Broad.

Broad has been a great bowler for England, and he will go down as one of the best pacers of the modern era, but his performances in overseas conditions- especially in Australia and the sub-continent, the two most challenging conditions for an English cricketer. Broad has played 12 Tests in Australia in which he has claimed 34 wickets at an average of 37.17. In the subcontinent, the English pacer has managed 41 wickets in 18 Tests at an average of 38.14. That average of 38.14 shoots up to 53.90 if one solely considers his performance in India [10 wickets in 6 Tests].

Overall, Broad has played 55 overseas Tests where he has managed 160 wickets at an average of 32.66.
