5 Biggest home-track bullies in Test cricket currently
There have been a plethora of cricketers who looked like a juggernaut in home conditions, but as soon as they step out overseas, they look like a fish out of water.
2. Rohit Sharma
The Test series in New Zealand was a great opportunity for Rohit Sharma to assert that he is an all-condition and an all-format opener. But, the Mumbai Indians captain suffered an injury during the T20I series and was subsequently ruled out of the rest of the tour.
Rohit’s career in the purest format of the game has been a tale of two contrasting halves. While he has been a run-making juggernaut in home conditions- 1325 runs in 14 Tests at an average of 88.33 with five half-centuries and six hundred including a double-hundred- the same cannot be said about his exploits overseas.
In 18 overseas Tests, Sharma has managed just 816 runs at an average of 26.32 with the help of five half-centuries; something he’ll have an opportunity to improve on when India tours Australia for a four-match series later this year.
