5 Bowlers to watch out for in Asia Cup T20 2016

The upcoming Asia Cup T20 2016 promises to be an entertainment affair. While most look at the tournament as a preview to the World T20, it presents an opportunity for all sides to test their bench strength. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates will contest the premier Asian tournament. The tournament also presents the perfect opportunity for the bowlers to find their feet prior to the World T20. That said, here is a list of the bowlers to watch out for in the Asia Cup T20 2016. 1. Mustafizur Rahman: Mustafizur Rahman. (Photo Source: AFP) The 20-year-old pacer has been the face of the Bangladesh pace bowling unit since 2015. Hailing from modest roots, Mustafizur will be a crucial factor in Bangladesh’s Asia Cup campaign. Mustafizur played a key role in Bangladesh’s series wins over India, South Africa, and Pakistan. In addition, he also boasts of an economy rate of 5.45 in the 7 T20Is played. However, most of Mustafizur’s performances have come against Zimbabwe. Whether he can perform against the best in Asia on the T20 level remains to be seen. 2. Mohammed Nawaz: Mohammad Nawaz. (Photo Source: Twitter) It was certainly a surprise when uncapped Mohammed Nawaz was drafted into the Pakistan squad ahead of the likes of Umar Gul. However, a strong performance from the 21-year-old in the Pakistan Super League saw him justify his selection in the T20I side. Playing for the Quetta Gladiators, Nadeem’s slow left-arm orthodox spin saw him being named the man of the match twice in the first four matches. 3. Mohammad Amir: Mohammad Amir of Pakistan. He was a part of the side as Pakistan lost the T20I series in New Zealand, though it wasn’t a successful tour but would count for the invaluable experience he picked there. Now, Amir will be looking for redemption and will have a point to prove in the Asia Cup. 4. Jasprit Bumrah: Jasprit Bumrah. As India coasted to a thumping 3-0 win over Australia, Bumrah’s ability to bowl inch-perfect yorkers hadn’t gone unnoticed. His ability to bowl in the death, as well as extract swing with the new ball, has ensured that he is a perfect fit for the Indian side. Eyes will certainly be on Bumrah during the Asia Cup as he attempts to pull off the similar eye-catching performance he has produced in recent past. 5. Nuwan Kulasekara: Nuwan Kulasekara. (© Getty Images) The year 2016 has been a torrid one for 33-year-old Nuwan Kulasekera. His below par performances against New Zealand in the T20I series saw him being left out of the side that toured India. Thus, Kulasekara will be looking to justify his selection in the upcoming Asia Cup T20. He has been brought into the side at the expense of the impressive Kasun Rajitha. He is also a part of the squad for the World T20.
