5 Bowlers who should form the Indian bowling attack in the ODIs: India has lots of things to worry before they prepare to take the field against the highly confident South Africa in the ODIs. Like in previous situations, the main cause of worry for India would be their bowler’s unproductivity on the 22 yards. Barring off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, none of the bowlers have managed to create pressure on the strong South Africa batting line-up. India will have to mend all the issues as the situation is going to be tougher for them in the ODIs despite playing in favorable conditions. The current Indian squad has Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohit Sharma and Umesh Yadav as their frontline seamers and Axar Patel, R Ashwin and Amit Mishra as the frontline spinners. Stuart Binny and Gurkeerat Singh Maan are the all-rounders in the team. Indian captain MS Dhoni today said that He won’t prefer pitches with lot of grass cover. So, it would be sensible for them to field five bowlers. He also said that they were planning a few changes in the side. “We wanted to make a few changes in the side. We wanted to change the batting order. It’s sad that we were not able to play. This is one venue where you really want to play. Don’t want to come here and then not play a game. “Three changes, we were planning to make — Jinks (Ajinkya Rahane) was supposed to open, (Suresh) Raina to bat at No. 3 and (Amit) Mishra and (Stuart) Binny would have played. Experts have pointed out that he has lost his swing since he has put in desperate efforts to increase his bowling speed. However, it’s time for him to stop experimenting and start doing things he is naturally best at- i.e. swinging the ball big. Moving ball creates problems for the best batsmen. Therefore, his opening spell will be very crucial for the rest of the bowling as well. The South Africa openers can be curbed from going berserk if Bhuvi swings it the right way. Bhuvi has taken 53 wickets in the 50 matches at an impressive economy rate of under 5 runs per over. 2. Umesh Yadav: Umesh Yadav. Umesh, with his lively pace and accuracy, can be a very viable option who can play a key role in providing early breakthroughs. He is also good in the death overs and doesn’t leak unnecessary runs unless it’s a bad day. Overall, Yadav has the experience of playing 50 ODIs and has taken 69 wickets so far in his career. India’s struggle to find a dependable seam bowler who can bowl the death overs skilfully is known to everyone. The numbers may not speak in favor of him as he has hardly managed to pick wickets consistently. Mohit Sharma has played only 22 ODIs so far and has only taken 26 wickets. However, Mohit has a deceptive bowling style and can quiz the batsmen. 4. While other bowlers were being hit mercilessly, Ashwin dealt with them in a commanding way. He looked in control and looked ominous for the South Africans. His ODI records are very strong. He has picked 18 wickets in the last n the last 10 matches. Most interestingly, all these performances have come in overseas conditions. 5. Amit Mishra: Amit Mishra Amit Mishra recently made a comeback to the Test squad against Sri Lanka. His performance strongly states that he has only improved since the last time he was dropped. He took 15 wickets in the 3-match Test series. Mishra, if given a chance, promises to put an impact on the South African batsmen. Ironically, Amit Mishra last played an ODI for India exactly a year back against West Indies in October on the same date. On the other hand, South Africa, who will be high on confidence, will play the first ODI with an aim to keep the positive momentum and their dominance in the tour intact after defeating India hands down in the T20Is. The South African bowling line-up has only got stronger with the return of More Morkel and Dale Steyn. Indians have to be wary about their bowling attack which became a cause of the problem for them even with these two stalwarts.
