The new ODI rules will take effect from the Bangladesh v/s South Africa ODI series down under. Now, there won’t be any batting power-plays while we will find 5 fielders outside the 30 yards from 41st to 50 over.
If we look at the stats then, AB de Villiers has been one of the biggest bullies of bowlers in the period between 36 to 50 overs. His strike rate has been in excess of 190, which has the best in ODI’s since the introduction of the batting power-play and 4 fielder rule outside 30 yards.
Will de Villiers be able to replicate his magic with which he has enthralled the world or he would falter in face of this new rule changes? It’s a question which can only be answered when the Proteas takes on the new Asian giants from 10th of July.
